QL

QL routine is normally used for calibrating the instrument's UV. For more info for this, refer to the UV SOP.

This routine points the zenith towards the UV port then scans through the wavelengths on both direction and outputs the result to a QL file reflecting the bulb used. There are two variables required, distance from the bulb to the UV dome (ECCC's Default setup uses 40cm), and the lamp's serial number.

TL;DR UV Calibration

Note: Before using this section, please go through and understand how to perform the UV calibration via the UV SOP

  1. Run the pre-calibration command string.
For all instruments aside from MKIII:
    pdb1frhgsldtrsappd

    For MKIII instruments only:

    pdfrhphgsldtrsappd
  2. With the calibration lamp on, check and make sure the zenith offset is correct via
    pdzetutututupzzepd2
  3. Run an RU or restart dosbox so it won't run out of string space in the middle.
  4. Once the instrument is warmed up to temperature (Usually around 30c) run the uv calibration
    pdzehgb1qlhgzeb1qlhgslpd

    or for MKIII instruments:

    pdzehphgb1qlhgzeb1qlhgslpd
  5. For subsequent bulbs you can run the following without waiting for the bulb warmup (wait time included)
    pdzew2hgb1qlhgzeb1qlhgslpd

    For MKIII instruments:

    pdzew1hgb1qlhgzeb1qlhgslpd
