Converting 8 wire Airpax/EAD motor to 6 wire Portescap Motor

The original multi-board single monochromator Brewer Spectrophotometer had an eight wire motor with 2 optical detectors (LED’s) and was wired as follows:

Subsequent multi-board double monochromator Brewer Spectrophotometers have the optical switches removed, utilizing only the physical hard stops to initiate positioning of the shutter at reset. When the single board electronics Brewer was developed, a single optical detector was employed.

The original eight wire motor has become obsolete and the current motor sourced has only 6 wires, two wires, each providing power to a pair of coils. This motor configuration requires the following wire positioning.
